Objective of Pai Gow
You are dealt 4 Chinese domino tiles and must split them into two 2-tile hands: a Front Hand (Low) and a Rear Hand (High).
Your goal is to beat the Banker on both hands.
Winning & Payouts
- Player Wins Both Hands: Paid 1 to 1 (minus standard 5% casino commission).
- Split Hands (1 Win, 1 Loss): PUSH (Tie). Your bet is returned in full!
- Banker Wins Both Hands: Bet is lost.
- Copy Hands: If a hand ties with the Banker on exact points and high tile, the Banker wins the tie!
Foul Rule (Crucial)
The Rear Hand MUST rank higher than or equal to the Front Hand. If your Front hand is stronger than your Rear hand, it is a foul!
Hand Hierarchy (Highest to Lowest)
- Supreme Pair (至尊): [1-2 and 2-4] — The #1 unbeatable pair in the game!
- Pairs (Bo / 雙): 16 ranked pairs: Heaven (6-6), Earth (1-1), Man (4-4), Harmony (1-3), Plum (5-5), etc.
- Wongs (王): Heaven or Earth + any 9 (Heaven Wong > Earth Wong). Beats all Gongs and points!
- Gongs (槓): Heaven or Earth + any 8 (Heaven Gong > Earth Gong). Beats all point totals!
- Points (0 to 9): Sum of pips modulo 10 (e.g. 10 + 7 = 17 % 10 = 7 Points). Tied point totals are broken by the single highest-ranking tile in each hand!
Gee Joon Wild Rule
The two Gee Joon tiles (1-2 and 2-4) can count as 3 OR 6 pips to form the highest possible point total when not paired together!
